Meet Jesus

If you’ve clicked here we’re guessing you’re at least a little curious
about this Jesus guy that Christians are always talking about?

We’re so excited to introduce you.

We believe every person - yes you too - was beautifully designed and created by God purely because he wanted to love you and meet you and make you part of his new family.

Sunsets, seahorses, strawberries and shooting stars all point us to this incredible Creator God who is always trying to introduce himself to us.

But sad and painful things also give us a clue that the world isn’t how it’s supposed to be… earthquakes, eating disorders, enemy invasions, epilepsy… have you ever felt in your gut ‘something here is really really wrong’... our souls can sense that the world’s not all right…

Because the world is trying to live without its Creator.

But he’s still here. Closer than you know.
And 2000 years ago he came in person to introduce himself.
God put on humanness.

He was born as a tiny baby in a poor corner of the Middle East. Named Jesus.
God cried and laughed, ate and pooped, worked and slept, washed the dishes, went through puberty, giggled and grieved, made and lost friends.
God with us. God, one of us. Us as we were always designed to be.

Why?
Jesus means God Rescues (or God Saves). God became a human to rescue us.

To rescue us from ourselves, from our shame and fear, helplessness, loneliness, regret, sickness, greed. And death. God is our way out. Our way into full life.

And we killed him.
We hated him and tortured him.
We nailed him to a cross and we buried him in a tomb.
Just as he knew we would.

God walked straight into the open mouth of death for us… as us.
Taking us with him in all our fear and addiction and shame.
Then he left that poisonous mess in the grave and rose from the dead, he came back to life slaying death from the inside out and bringing us with him into true life forever.

Death is completely powerless for Jesus and all of his friends.

The Bible sums it all up like this:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son [Jesus],
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 (emphasis added)

Being a friend of Jesus means: I need what you did. Make that true for me too. Rescue me.
Jesus is knocking at your heart’s door right now.
He knows you, he loves you and he really wants to introduce himself to you.

Here’s a prayer you might like to use:

Jesus,
Thank you for creating me
and loving me so much that you died for me to rescue me.
I am sorry for trying to do life without you.
Please forgive me.
I choose to turn away from that old life to follow you forever.
Thank you that your death gives me a new life of freedom.
I open the door of my heart and invite you to come into my life.
Fill me with your Spirit, and adopt me into your family.
You are my new King and I give my whole life to you.
Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, please tell a Christian!

Meeting Jesus checklist:

Find a Church: to help your new faith grow it’s really important to keep hanging out with other Christians.

Get a Bible: Click here to download the Bible App or you can buy a Bible. We recommend buying one in the NIV, New International Version because it will be easiest to start reading.

Keep Praying: God loves talking with you, you can talk to him about anything. Ask God to help you and keep giving it a go. Our friends at Try Praying have a helpful booklet that can teach you how to pray. Don’t forget to listen, he loves to speak to us too.
